So Many Men, So Many Decisions

Hello Ms. T.,

My question is about the men in my life…

I have been “keeping company” with a man (let’s call him Garrett) for a few months now. We have many common interests, and we enjoy each other’s company… but it sometimes it seems like we are from different planets. When we have a conversation, he sometimes finishes my sentences, assuming the outcome of my “story” and it is usually not anywhere in the ballpark of my reality. I continue to hang out with him, because I enjoy his company, and he treats me very well, but I wonder if he’s “right for me”. We don’t really have a commitment; we are “friends with benefits” enjoying each other’s company.
I can’t help thinking, somewhere in the back of my mind, “He’s so good to me, I should be head over heels… but I’m not.”
More recently, a couple of other men (Bob & Michael) have expressed an interest in me, and I wonder if it is wrong or ok to encourage their interest. When they ask me out, what should I do?

Dear Anonymous,

So many men, so little time! Let’s pull one card for each man.
“Garrett” is represented by the 2 of Wands. When I look at this card I am hearing the song by Clash, “Should I stay or should I go now? If I go there will be trouble, if I stay it will be double…” It appears that you are sending mixed signals to Garrett, because you have mixed feelings. This card says it is time for you to make a decision about him. The “Mr. Right Now” attitude doesn’t seem to be working for you. It wouldn’t be fair to drop him like a hot potato if you got your socks knocked off by someone else. Is that what you are waiting for?
The card for “Bob” is the 8 of Wands. Another card related to decision making, and often related to your work environment. You may find yourself in situations where you would have to choose between your work and Bob. There is potential for personal growth, as shown by the little baby leaves growing on the wands. The way they are budding out from the ends of each of the downward-facing wands show that you would learn more at the end of your experience with him rather than during.
The 5 of Swords is for Michael. I’m not getting a good vibe from this card. This looks like a “Isn’t he cute, yeah baby, that is MY boyfriend”. Like someone you want to go out with just because you CAN. I’m not sure he would ultimately be there to please you. I don’t want you to forget that your happiness is the goal! This card is more about pride and ego, competition and winning. Please take a look at what you may have to give up in exchange for what you are getting.
I’d like to remind you of nature’s way.
There are rainstorms that begin suddenly with a strong gust of wind followed by powerful driving rain that soaks the ground and gives a thrilling sense of being wild and uncontrolled. Other storms begin with big gray full clouds rolling in slowly, taking hours to fill the sky. Quietly a fine mist sprays and you can stand under it with your face lifted to feel the soft moisture absorb into your skin, every so gently, for a long time.
Which do you prefer?
