Love Thy Neighbor

Dear Maribeth,

Will my psychotic neighbors do harm or attempt to do harm to anyone in my family?

G

Dear G,

I don’t know what has given you the impression that your neighbors are psychotic, but it is evident in your question that you are genuinely concerned for your safety. This is never a comfortable feeling and one that should not be associated with being at home. I’ve pulled three cards for your reading and they are all very positive cards, which tells me you are indeed safe! I am relieved to see this, and I hope you are too.

The first card to come up is The Lovers; a major arcana card that indicates it is time for candidness in a relationship. The Lovers card presents many references to the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. We remember the story as one indicating the importance of making the right choices in life, and not getting drawn toward temptation. You may be feeling that your neighbors have different moral character traits than you. You may not agree with some of the choices they are making. The Lovers card shows up to remind us to be true to ourselves, and do not be afraid to share your feelings with others. You can do this without judgment, by expressing your own opinion. The mountain in between the two figures on the card shows that there is a rift between you, but with honest communication, and acceptance of your neighbor’s differences, the archangel above will guide you to common ground.

The Ten of Cups is next; this is a card of ultimate happiness! You obviously have worked hard to earn your place in an environment that you cherish. This is something to be proud of. You have created your own private space that should not be interfered with by outsiders. With this card showing up in your reading, it appears that things will stay that way and no harm will come to you or your family. Only you can allow negative thoughts and feelings in, they will not be imposed upon you. Stay focused on your property and try to ignore them if they are causing you that much annoyance.

The outcome of your reading is the Temperance card. Another major arcana card symbolizing a significant lesson for you to learn. Like The Lovers card, it is a very balanced card, and indicates a time to keep your temper in check. That path off in the distance that leads to the shining crown shows that you can be successful in overcoming this. You can rise above the petty differences, control your temper and remain untouchable by these annoyances. The Temperance card is much about recognizing what is happening in the outer world and connecting it with our perceptions. Think about what your fear is based on – are there real examples of intentional harm or could it just be selfishness and inconsideration? This brings us full circle back to the The Lovers where you may want to confront your neighbor and let them know what they are doing that is making you uncomfortable. It could just be ignorance on their part.

This reading suggests that both neighbors try to see each other’s perspective in the situation. You need cooperation and balance in order to meet in the middle where you can achieve amiable success.
