Shiny Happy People
Dear Maribeth,
What do you see when you look ahead to 2007?
Crystal Ball-less
Well Crystal,
When I look at your three cards, I realize that we can never look forward without first looking back. As human beings, we are in a space/time continuum and we need a launching point. In other words, we have to start from somewhere to get our bearings. The beginning of a new year is a good place to stop and evaluate.
The Judgement card reminds us of significant events going on in our world today that have impacted all of us. We are in the midst of troubled times. Weather and political storms have allowed us to witness human suffering and unfairness in a profound manner. Our personal experiences have increased our ability to feel compassion and allowed us to expose people for what they’re really made of. There are proud moments and shameful moments. Which do you want more of in 2007? It is up to us to create more proud moments, individually and together.
The 5 of Cups reminds us to focus on the positive. It’s motto could be, “Don’t cry over spilled milk”. The overturned cups symbolize what is lost and cannot be recovered. The 2 cups behind the figure are upright and full of new and special opportunities. No matter what, we will keep learning and growing and moving forward. There is so much to bring us down, but right behind us are more opportunities for growth and positive change. Throw off the big black cloak, spin around and grab hold of the cups! More people will be following their passion and doing what they love. The almighty dollar and working for ‘The Man’ no longer has security as an appeal. Security is very elusive. War, storms, violence, as ugly as they are, do spotlight the precious value of our time here on earth. Our personal goals and dreams become a priority when we fully realize that all we have to be secure about is each moment we receive.
The Hierophant reminds us of the examples we set by our behavior and our beliefs. Be a person you would want other people to be like. Teach your children well, but also listen to children and allow them to teach you. The new generations of people entering the world are extraordinarily special. Embrace their qualities, although they might be different, and learn by their methods.
The common theme here seems to be for each of us to be a person that we can be proud of. I know everyone is tired, but if we take care of ourselves first and believe in our own dreams, this will power us up and motivate us to contribute to other’s successes. It will actually be easier on your soul and body. Why give all of your energy away? As people return toward the basic lifestyle where each person contributes their own special gift to the world, it will be easier to support each other. Shop at the small town grocer and the independent pet shop. Do what you can to help the “little guy”. Everyone’s contribution interweaves with others to create a network of happy people.
That’s what we all want to see in 2007 - more happy people. Let’s affect what we can and make that vision a reality this year.
